  • In-Game Advertisement for separate game.
  • No Training Room. (Hazard Course)
  • All Chapters Unlocked at Start.
  • No tram pause during radiation spill section which gives players the chance to see the G-Man.
  • Can't open stalls.
  • Can't run the taps.
  • HEV Suit some how looks worse.
  • Instead of incentivizing exploration and the use key, you are directly fed a wall charger.
  • HEV Start Up Sequence was good.
  • Pathetic hardware explosion. [This one point sums up the entire difference between Half-Life and Black Mesa]
  • Vort Cod Pieces.
  • Awkward and unstructured foreshadowing pieces for random teleport sequence.
  • Laser fails to be cool and cut big machine.
  • Elevator death sequence gives unnecessary dialog removing the original shock of unknowingly plummeting 3 scientists to their doom
  • Gain the crowbar at the very end of the crowbar section. Immediately gaining the pistol.
  • Randomly plugging in retina scanner somehow gives you sudo access.
  • Constant fire alarm ringing. (Gabe Newell: "But is it fun?")
  • There are more barnacles in this one chapter than all of Half-Life combined.
  • Akira elevator as a cultural reference is minimized by having to run around just to turn it on (this only works design and theme wise if you already know the reference, even then edging is not a great trope to use willy nilly), having the wrong angle, the wrong aesthetic, the wrong lighting.
  • All these changes and the only benefit is to slave squat on the railing and watch the headcrabs sail over head.
  • Replacing the introduction of bullsquid using subversion and shock with an action dense sequence that takes longer to explain than appears on screen.
  • Kludged connection between maintenance and office elevator.
  • Soda machine unbreakable. (How is Black Mesa less advanced?)
  • Meat unchunkabble.
  • Ceiling turret sounds like inbred plasma cannons.
  • Foley in general is agonizing.
  • Music getting worse in both quality and timing.
  • Cafeteria reimagining is great.
  • $3.50 Beef Taco. (White Person Was Here)
  • Final hallway stretch neutered into weak slop
  • Platforming mechanic introduction grinded down as to be as most inoffensively easy as possible.
  • Weapons in general have felt weak in design and feel.
  • Enemy AI is subpar.
  • Vorts move like rejected Broadway dancers.
  • Round gear goes on the peg. Let's do this as much as possible.
